Jakamitra’s Inclusive Path Towards a Shared Sustainable Future

In Indonesia, one of the most critical regulatory requirements for any large-scale industrial
project is the Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL – Analisis Mengenai Dampak
Lingkungan). This legal framework’s function is mainly to evaluate the potential
environmental impacts of the planned projects such as pollution and waste production,
identify mitigative measures to reduce the negative environmental impacts, and in the end
becomes a decision-making tool on whether the assessed project can proceed and under
what conditions.

Jakamitra believes sustainable development begins with the people. Hence, i-Sentra
involves the public especially in introducing its projects to local communities about the
environmental impact of its projects. This effort is also to fulfill one of the requirements for
Indonesia to obtain the permission for Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL –
Analisis Mengenai Dampak Lingkungan). On March 31, 2022, i-Sentra conducted a major
AMDAL socialization session, attended by over 200 local residents living in and around
the proposed site of the i-Sentra Industrial Park. During the session, residents were not
merely informed but invited to raise questions and contribute ideas about the project’s
impact on land use, air quality, waste management, etc, therefore the session became a
forum for transparency, trust-building, and shared responsibility.

In this case, i-Sentra’s efforts aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 11
which is sustainable cities and communities.
