World Environment Day 2024: Embracing Clean Communities for a Greener Tomorrow in Lamongan

While environmental action is often perceived as cleaning up trash and planting trees, it’s
mainly about building a culture of care and responsibility to strengthen the community from
inside-out. A clean environment directly impacts the health and safety of residents. Factors
such as polluted air, unsafe water and unmanaged waste makes daily life difficult,
especially in rural areas like Lamongan. Simple efforts such as regular cleanups go a long
way in preventing disease and improve public health.

These actions create stronger community bonds, allowing people to connect to their
environment. This sense of shared ownership can lead to more cooperation and empathy
allowing villagers to protect and ensure a clean and united community. Not only does it
reduce the risk of disease, but it’s a reminder that change can begin right at your doorstep.
In celebration of World Environment Day (Hari Lingkungan Hidup), residents throughout
Lamongan participated in a series of activities, organized by i-Sentra, that brought
environmental awareness and community spirit to the front lines. As a way to uphold i-
Sentra’s commitment to sustainability and community development, this event aims to
remind people of the shared responsibility we all have in protecting our surroundings.
This year’s celebration started with a village-wide cleanup campaign, where village
community members came together to clean streets, public areas, and green spaces.
As a token of appreciation, i-Sentra distributed gift packages to the sanitation workers of
the Lamongan local government, honoring their often overlooked contribution to public
health and cleanliness.

i-Sentra’s Environment Day activities are part of a broader vision aligned with Sustainable
Development Goal 15: Life on Land, demonstrating that meaningful environmental action
starts with local commitment and community collaboration.
